What Will Your Mommy Makeover Be Like? By The Landings Surgical Centre on November 22, 2016

A woman sleeping peacefully while recovering from her mommy makeoverThe joys of motherhood may be plenty, but many women do not count the changes in their figures among them. It is with these women in mind that Dr. Richard Bendor-Samuel and R. Louis Boileau offer customized mommy makeover treatment plans at their plastic surgery practice, The Landings Surgical Centre. Each mommy makeover is tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual patient, with the ultimate goal of giving her a body that restores or even in some ways exceeds her pre-pregnancy appearance.

One of the greatest benefits of mommy makeover treatment plans at The Landings Surgical Centre is that they are completely customisable; there really are no two plans alike. The results achieved through a mommy makeover can be as subtle or as dramatic as the patient prefers. Therefore, when discussing the mommy makeover recovery process during consultations at their Halifax, NS plastic surgery centre, Drs. Bendor-Samuel and Boileau must address each woman according to factors unique to her treatment plan. There is no such thing as a typical mommy makeover recovery timeline because there is no such thing as a typical mommy makeover.

Therefore, the only way to know what your particular mommy makeover recovery will be like is to meet with one of our acclaimed plastic surgeons at The Landings Surgical Centre for a confidential, one-on-one consultation. We invite you to schedule yours by contacting our practice today.

Factors That Shape the Mommy Makeover Recovery Process

There are several possible factors that will determine what your mommy makeover recovery process will be like. These factors include:

  • How many treatments comprise your mommy makeover: Your mommy makeover could include as few as two or as many as ten treatments, both surgical and non-surgical. The number of treatments will depend largely on your unique needs and goals. If you want to focus on rejuvenating your breasts and removing a few isolated pockets of fat, then a breast lift and targeted liposuction may be sufficient. If, however, you want also to enlarge your breasts, tighten your abdominal muscles, and rejuvenate sagging skin on your face, then multiple surgical procedures will be necessary. Obviously, the recovery period from the former treatment plan will be very different from that of the latter plan.
  • Which procedures and techniques are integrated into your mommy makeover: Let’s say that you do want to address hanging, excess skin and localized fat in the abdominal region. If you have just a slight amount of excess skin and fat concentrated below the navel, then a mini tummy tuck may be ideal for you. If, however, you have extensive excess skin and fat, plus muscle laxity, which accounts for the entire abdominal region extending around to the lower back, then you may require an extended tummy tuck to reach your aesthetic goals. The latter is more invasive than the former and therefore requires a longer healing period. You will face similar choices of technique with other procedures that are commonly included in mommy makeovers, such as thigh lift, facelift, arm lift, and other lift procedures.
  • How many treatment sessions are necessary: If multiple treatment sessions are necessary to accomplish your goals, then they may have to be spaced out by weeks or even months. This will, of course, result in multiple recovery periods spread out over time.
