I’ve Got No Strings: Treatment for Marionette Lines By The Landings Surgical Centre on March 24, 2015

A middle-aged woman looking rejuvenated after surgical treatment for marionette linesNo one has ever looked at a marionette and said, “I wish that my mouth could look like that.” Therefore, even if you have never encountered the phrase “marionette lines,” you can probably imagine that they aren’t anything you want to have on your face. However, if you do currently have these unflattering lines that run from the corners of your mouth to the edges of your chin, you almost certainly are interested in how you can rid yourself of them.

For some, facial plastic surgery may provide the best, longest-lasting solution. To be certain, facelift surgery can help to diminish the appearance of marionette lines and restore healthier, more vibrant and youthful looking facial skin. However, for those patients who are not yet ready to undergo a surgical procedure, less invasive alternatives can provide excellent results, especially among those patients whose marionette lines are just beginning to form.

At The Landings Surgical Centre in Nova Scotia, marionette lines treatment can take several different forms, each of which can be personalized to the unique needs of the individual patient. Whatever your goals, you can count on our experienced, highly trained team to provide you with the right solution for you. You will emerge from treatment looking younger and feeling more confident in your own skin.

Minimally Invasive Dermal Fillers

If you are not prepared to undergo facial plastic surgery, then dermal filler treatment may represent the best available solution to your marionette lines. By strategically injecting such dermal fillers as Restylane®, Perlane®, and JUVÉDERM® into the facial skin, our plastic surgeons are able to add volume to hollow areas of the face, including marionette lines. While the results of injectable treatments are temporary, the treatments can be safely repeated as necessary.

Our doctors are particularly adept at combining injectable dermal fillers to produce longer-lasting, more aesthetically appealing results. For example, Restylane® and Perlane® can be meticulously layered to address marionette lines; however, only the most skilled of experts can safely administer such treatment.

Because the above-listed dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a protein that occurs naturally in the human body, most patients are excellent candidates for treatment without the need for an allergy test.

Facial Plastic Surgery

Although certainly more invasive than injectable treatments, facial plastic surgery also offers the benefit of longer-lasting results. Plus, modern techniques have made facelift surgery more customizable and less invasive than ever before possible. If your primary concern is marionette lines and other wrinkles, folds, and signs of aging in the mid- to lower-third of the face, then our plastic surgeons can modify your procedure to address only those areas. A midface lift or mini facelift may be sufficient in producing the results you desire while producing minimal scarring and less downtime than traditional facelift surgery.
