If you desire a flatter, toned stomach, you may feel very frustrated. Despite exercise and a healthy diet, many patients still struggle with unwanted fat deposits in this area. Liposuction can be a highly effective way to eliminate excess fat cells. Although Dr. Bendor-Samuel or Dr. Boileau can perform this procedure on almost any part of your body, the stomach is an especially popular and successful treatment area. Using one of our advanced techniques, your plastic surgeon will separate and remove fat cells, suctioning them out through a small tube. Thanks to our doctors’ skill and state-of-the-art methods, you should enjoy outstanding results with minimal discomfort. However, while liposuction can be a great choice, it is not appropriate for all patients. Our surgeons will evaluate your health and cosmetic goals to make sure it is the optimal solution for you. What to Expect during Liposuction

In most cases, our doctors use tumescent liposuction to treat the stomach. We will inject a special saline solution in the treatment area. This mixture will loosen the unwanted fat cells. Because the solution also contains anesthetic, it will minimize discomfort before and after surgery. Then your surgeon will create tiny incisions, inserting a small tube, or cannula, into the openings. With this tube, he will suction out the loosened fat cells. Throughout the entire process, he will work carefully and gently to avoid  disturbing the surrounding cells.

Location of Abdominal Fat Can Affect Liposuction Results

The success of your liposuction will partially depend on the location of the unwanted fat. These cells could be located on two levels of your stomach. Subcutaneous fat cells are found between your skin and abdominal muscles. Typically, liposuction can remove these fat deposits successfully. Most fat cells are located on the superficial level. However, you could also have deeper fat deposits on your intestines. Doctors cannot perform liposuction to remove these cells because it would involve too many risks. Weight loss, through diet and exercise, is the only way to eliminate intestinal fat deposits.
